UoA Scientists win at World Class NZ awards

Congratulations to Dr. Garth Cooper and Dr. Margret Brimble, both professors at The University of Auckland who have won ‘tall poppy’ awards in the annual Kea World Class New Zealanders Awards in Biotechnology and Science, Research, Technology & Academia respectively.These awards highlight kiwis who have succeeded on the international stage.


Garth Cooper – Founder of Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Protemix , 2005 NZBio Biotechnologist of the Year

Margret Brimble – 2007 UNESCO-L’Oreal Women in Science Laureate in Materials Science for the Asia-Pacific region, helped developed a lead drug for Neuren Pharmaceuticals.
